Vores samfund er fuld af kulturelle narrativer og forventninger til, hvad den ældre kvinde er, kan og skal.

BELIVE IN YOURSELF, rail board in context of HOMAGE TO OLDER WOMEN
Our society is full of cultural narratives and expectations of what the older woman is, can and should be.
HOMMAGE TO OLDER WOMEN invited 100 female visual artists from Scandinavia to express their personal thoughts about the older woman and this phase of life. Individual works, all of which were displayed on rail boards in public spaces in Copenhagen and the surrounding area, and which together gave a more nuanced view of the older woman. The project wanted to create a community of solidarity across generations. A community that celebrated the wrinkles, wisdom and life experiences of older women and pointed to new realizations to reflect on.
It has been 20 years since visual artist Hanne Lise Thomsen realized her first billboard project, WOMAN 2003 in Copenhagen with the participation of 100 female visual artists from Scandinavia. HOMAGE TO OLDER WOMEN strengthened both old and new networks of Scandinavian female visual artists. The project was therefore also to be seen as a celebration and further development of WOMAN 2003.
The idea and concept of the billboard project was developed by the Danish visual artist Hanne Lise Thomsen in collaboration with curator Lise Grüner Bertelsen.
